backlight issues

Ive had this tv for 3 years and had little issues apart from it losing wifi now and then( fixed it by unplugging the tv and turning back on, in the last week I have noticed the right hand side of the screen backlighting to be dim, Im a licensed electrician and wondering if parts are available, or its a throwaway item, my 10 yr old 40 inch samsung still works 100%, funny that the newer model failed

Purple blotches on screen

Purple blotches appeared on screen and steadily got worse. Discovered that this is a well known problem worldwide with this tv. TV is 2 years and 3 months old, so out of warranty. However Samsung replaced panel. Thanks Samsung, but problem may reoccur.

Purchased in December 2016 for $1,200.00.

Life of tv

Was happy with Tv performance and ease of use. My complaint is with regards to life of Tv ,just over 20 months old and screen is scrolling on left hand side and also poor colour. Contacted Samsung and was told screen was faulty and not repairable and that 2 years was considered life of product . 2 Years product life for something that cost over a thousand dollars is not good enough Samsung. Will not buy a Samsung product again.

Very disappointed. Screen blacking out

Bought this TV in April 2017. Worked perfectly for most of the 12 month warranty period but then noticed the screen went black and sound stopped momentarily. At first this only happened about once a month and I thought it was just a transmission problem but now this is happening 4 to 5 times a day. I am very upset and disappointed that this is happening so often especially as my TV is now out of the warranty period. I have enquired about this problem at Good Guys where I bought the TV but they say they haven't heard of this problem. I did however look up the problem on google and it appears that this problem does occur and according to some comments it is unique to Samsung.

Fighting a losing battle

Picture quality ok, sound not very good despite the multiple choices.
Trying to record onto a card or ext hard disc is unpredictable .sometime she will, often she won't
The real nightmare is that every time you turn the set on. Either the channels are gone/changed/data only.
I can't get rid of 'tv plus' which I don't want.not there when I bought the set.
Now it tries to cut out channels unless I carefully watch the choose/cancel trick boxes
and today it has made ceefax inaccessible.

Excellent 4K Smart TV

This tv has a very good quality picture. We use it as our main tv. Watching sport is great, but if you want to get the best out of it is watching a 4k movie. The screen is crystal clear. Its good for gaming too. Samsung hub is very easy to use. I also have the samsung smart view app and I can control it from my mobile phone. For the price it is a very good value tv.

This tv was a great tv as it is uhd 4k for my streaming plus you have the additional benefit of it being a smart tv so get thr apps such as tuning and you tube and of course netflix. Also comes with sports mode for thr footy which has stadium like sound and enhanced colour. Seem to be cheap to run electric for the size of it and doesn't put off much heat.pleased with the purchase.

Its perfect during the smart view with you other Samsung devices, it's perfect tv in average. Can be used at kid rooms because for the size, and the internet connection always worked properly, i recommend this tv for who looking for an affordable tv, but i never had series 7 or 8 to compare

Engineered to fail

Like all Samsung product they engineered to have a limited life time. For their tvs, if you are luck 5 years, that is all mine lasted, 5 years on the dot it failed, and it is a TV that is only used once a week, just keeps turning it self off after 5 minutes. Same issue with washing machine, same issue with air conditioner, Mobile phones they don't last more than 3 years. They are kings of the create waste consumerism that is killing our world filling it with waste.

Best to avoid Samsung in general. And their service is 3rd rate. Cheap re branded TVs like Kogan or Palsonic last longer and are less than half the price.

Good smart tv

I bought it from Costco when it on sale last year. And has been watching for one year. It is easy to watch youtube and netflix. My son like watch simple song video on youtube. Just love it cause it is easy to access online source. Picture quality is good as well.

Perfect but lacks speed i.e screen freeze

Picture quality is above average, speakers are not good for cinematic or music experience. There are enough ports never has problems. Functionality and user friendly i.e apps are fluid. However it requires good sound purchased for 990$ at Jbhifi and its great value for money in my opinion. Nice TV

Good smart tv

I paid $950 from the good guys. It has great picture quality, easy to watch youtube and netflix.
Speakers are good too. Only thing i didn't like is remote control which is quite ordinary.
I can easily mirror my mobile phone as well and play play station.
Overall good product.

The bezel size is amazing on this model. The picture quality is very good, considering it is 4k UHD. The operation of the tv is simple, quiet, effective and smart. The smart tv app menus are fulfilling and plentiful of all the apps (YouTube, netflix etc). The built in speakers are good

Very nice TV

Received this as a warranty replacement for an older Samsung Plasma TV. Picture quality is excellent and the bump up from 1080p to 4k is definitely noticeable. I notice it is also priced quite competitively for a 4k TV. Would highly recommend. I also would highly recommend Samsung as they are very good with dealing with statutory warranty replacements, they were a pleasure to deal with.

Samsung 55” TV Buzzing Powerboard

My Samsung 55” TV began buzzing from its rear after having the unit for 5 years. Samsung TV authorized repairer found the first of two power boards had failed. At first Sales representatives said it was a faulty HDMI cable (Don’t believe this advice - most likely they want you to spend money replacing expensive cables). Fortunately, the service technician said that if you can produce an original sales receipt or a Statutory Declaration to prove ownership, Samsung will repair it under warranty. This news made my day and a BIG thank you to the authorized Samsung TV repairer who advised me. Thank you to SAMSUNG for standing behind your products.

Great Picture Quality

Overall i am happy with this TV as picture quality is excellent and easy to operate and have enough unit ports to support my sound bar and DVD player. Only issue is remote do go in sleep mode sometimes and that also with fresh battery. They could have added blue tooth, that would have been handy if possible.

Great TV. Great to be able to watch You tube, Netflix etc on it as well. Easily changes from Foxtel to internet on source. Looks stylish. although does gather dust being black! Clear picture and easy to use. Exactly what i would expect from Samsung. Sound sometimes is muffled but think that is the room rather than the TV

First smart TV I bought. So far everything is good. Nice picture quality compared to other TVs I looked at in the same price range. Having UltraHD is a bonus, but I'm not really sure what difference it makes on a screen of only this size. Sound quality is ok. Another couple of AV ports wouldn't hurt, as well as another USB port.

Have had this tv for 3 years and its decided to start playing up we have changed power cords changed the batteries in the remote it wasnt that tried all the trouble shooting and google recommendations and they never worked went into The Good Guys where we purchased it and they said that we could take it in to see if its a problem with our power socket but it wasnt that either, Now the tv turns on and shows up with the smart tv lable then turns straight off again does anyone know why this could be happening? Side note the tv has been well looked after so not sure why it would be doing this?

I have had this tv since 24 November 2016 and it has these dark noticeable shadows across the screen. Is their anyway of fixing it as it is very distracting.
I suspect that it is a similar issue to the one I had. I suspect that the shadows are purple in colour, just like I had. I contacted Samsung on their 'on line help system' and they arranged for a replacement panel at their cost. Hope this helps. TV has stopped responding to remote when watching live TV, but if I plug in external HDD, that will work fine. Any ideas?
