2. I got around this issue by installing Windows XP mode and then loading the application into XP mode. Then I connected the phone to the USB and then presented the USB device to the XP Mode client and then I was able to make changes to the 7921. I had to do this with my 7920 aswell. Windows 7 will.

Installation Instructions

Cisco Anyconnect Installer Package

1.Click the following URL: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ip-7900ser-crypto.

2.In the Find Device box, enter 7921and click the Go button.

3.Click the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G highlighted link.

4.Click the Skinny Client Control Protocol (SCCP) Software link.

5.To view all available versions,click Expand all.

6.Select and click the currentsoftware version.

7.Download to your hard drive theproper Cisco 7921 firmware installer for your Cisco Unified CommunicationsManager version, as shown in Table 1.
Please note that different versions of the Cisco 7921 firmware installer areneeded for different Cisco Unified Communications Manager releases.

8.Install the firmware accordingto your Cisco Unified Communications Manager release.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager (formerly Cisco Unified CallManager) Version 5.1 and later

1. Using your web browser, log in to the Cisco Unified OS Administration web page.
2. Under the Software Upgrades menu,select Install/Upgrade.
3. Inthe Software Locationsection, fill in the appropriate values for the file thatyou downloaded above, and click Next.

4. In the Available Softwaredrop-down box, select the file you downloaded above, and click Next.

Note: In CUCM 6.0 and later, the drop-down boxis referred to as Options/Upgrades.
5. After validating that the MD5 hash value is correct, click Next.
6. (CUCM 5.1) In the Warning box, verify that youhave selected the correct file and then click Install.
7. Verify that the installation message is “Success” (CUCM 5.1) or that theinstallation status is “Complete” (CUCM 6.0 and later).

8. To install another file, click NewInstall (CUCM 5.1) or InstallAnother (CUCM 6.0 and later) and repeat steps 3 - 7.

9. Restart the TFTP server
a. From the Navigation drop-down menu, select Cisco Unified CallManagerServiceability (CUCM 5.1)

orCiscoUnified Serviceability (CUCM 6.0 and later) and click Go.

b. Under the Tools menu, select ControlCenter - Feature Services.
c. In the Server drop-down box, select the server where the firmware wasinstalled.
d. Click the Cisco Tftp service radio button.

e. Click the Restart button or icon.
10. Reset the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G to upgrade the firmware.
a. From the Navigationdrop-down menu, select Cisco Unified CallManager Administration (CUCM 5.1)

orCiscoUnified CM Administration (CUCM 6.0 and later) and click Go.

b. Under Devicemenu, select Phone.
c. Click Find tolist all the devices.
d. Select the Cisco 7921 wireless IP phones to reset, thenclick Reset Selected button or icon.
e. In the Device Resetpop-up window, click Reset.

Cisco Unified CallManager Version 4.1, 4.2, 4.3

1. Copy the Cisco 7921 firmware installer file to the TFTP server.
2. Double-clickthe file to begin installation on the TFTP server.
3. At the InstallShield Wizard Welcome screen, click Next.
4. At the LicenseAgreement screen, click Yes.
5. If prompted tooverwrite any files, click Yes.
6. After theinstallation is completed, click OK.
7. Reset the CiscoUnified Wireless IP Phone 7921G to upgrade the firmware.
a. Using your web browser, log in to the Cisco Unified CallManager Administrationweb page.
b. Under the Device menu,select Phone.
c. Click Find to list all thedevices.
d. Select the Cisco 7921 wireless IP phones to reset and then click Reset Selected button or icon.

Verifying the Firmware Load

You may verify the installation of the firmware as follows:

1. Using your web browser, log in to the Cisco Unified CM Administration web page.
2. Under the Device menu, select Device Settings > Device Defaults.
3. Verify that thenew firmware image name is listed in the LoadInformation field for the Cisco 7921 SCCP wireless IP phone.

1. Using your web browser, log in to the Cisco Unified CallManager Administrationweb page.
2. Under the System menu, select Device Defaults.

Cisco Unified Communications Manager Express Version 4.1 and later

1. Use the show flash commandto learn the filenames associated with the Cisco 7921 SCCP wireless IP phonefirmware.
2. Use the show ephonephone-load command to verify that the Cisco 7921 SCCP wireless IP phonefirmware that is installed on a particular ephone.

Upgrading Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G Without a Cisco UnifiedCommunications Manager

TheCisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G firmware can be upgraded without a CiscoUnified Communications Manager,
using a USB connection or WLAN. Follow the instructions below to upgradeyour phone firmware using a USB
or WLAN connection.

1. Click the following URL: http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/ip-7900ser-crypto.
2. In the Find Device box, enter 7921 and click the Go button.
3. Click the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G highlighted link.
4. Click the IP Phone Tools and Utilities link.
5. Click Expand all to view all the available software versions.
6. Click the 1.0(2a) version.
7. Click the file USB-Install-7921-7925.1-0-2a.exe.
8. In the “Release Information” row, click the Readme link to download the installation instructions

andfollow them to install the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G/7925G USBdriver.

NOTE: The USB driver is compatible with both Cisco Unified Wireless IPPhone 7921G and 7925G.

The installation instructions refer to Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7925Gbut they are also applicable to the 7921G.

9. Download CP7921G-1.4.1.TAR to your hard drive.
10. Open a browser and enter the following URL, where IP_address is the IP address of the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G:
    https://<IP_address>
11. Log in to the web pages with username: admin and enter the password: Cisco.
12. Click the Phone Upgrade hyperlink under SYSTEM options.
13. To locate the TAR file you had downloaded, enter the TAR file name or use Browse button.
14. Click Upload.
    It may take several minutes to upload the firmware to the phone. When the upload has completed,
    the message 'Uploaded image successfully. Rebooting phone.' is displayed.

Installing Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G Configuration UtilitySoftware Package using Wavelink Avalanche ServerConsole

1. Click the following URL: http://tools.cisco.com/support/downloads/pub/Redirect.x?mdfid=278875240.
2. In the Find Device box, enter 7921 and click the Go button.
3. Click the Cisco Unified Wireless IP Phone 7921G highlighted link.

7. Download 7921CU-1.2.1.AVAfile to a host that is accessible to the Avalanche Console.

10. From the menu, select Software Management > Installing Software Package.
11. Enter the path for the AVA file.

7. At the Welcome screen, click Next.
8. Click Next to accept the default destination folder as the install path.
